Having listened to the drama unfold on CH16 over the weekend, it’s good to know that the poor fishermen who accidentally trawled an unexploded WW2 mine near the Needles managed to get released without incident; and the Navy had great fun detonating it. For a spectacular video see BBC News.
Hi Frogavela, sorry I missed you yesterday. I went around to the marina but you had gone and were in Weymouth by tea time. Good going! I guess it’s Portland Bill next. The entrance to Dartmouth is nice if you go that way.

That’s a shame, I left at about 1030. Yes round the Bill next on route to Dartmouth. Quite nervous about the Bill but I’m going to chat to the HM today for some top tips.

From what I’ve heard through the old sailor’s network down at that classy “seaside” establishment the Lord Nelson, was that it was all fake news. Apparently the explosion was caused by pockets of gas released into the sea by the careless actions of a small red yacht pumping out her bilges mid channel. The yacht was last seen fleeing the scene in a westerly direction disappearing into the mist caused by said explosion. A Royal Navy spokesman was asked to comment, but declined as he drove off in his Ford Galaxy. Coastguard and harbour masters have been alerted…..
